The laid back feel to this CD "has a lot to do with the band I'm in," says Iha of his Virgin solo debut. "The Pumpkins tour a lot and when we're not on the road, we're in the studio. I play electric, saturated, distorted guitar every night...I'm sure a lot of these songs are reactions to that sound."
Indeed, the 11 tracks on this album are an organic mix of dreamy lyrics, acoustic guitars and melodic piano -- what one rock critic described as a "gentle, morning after album."
Since he started the Smashing Pumpkins with Billy Corgan in the late '80s, Iha has risen to the top of the alternative rock world. The band's success with the multi-platinum releases Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, has given Iha the financial freedom to explore his own personal music tastes.
Recorded in his basement studio in Chicago, Let It Come Down includes contributions from several of Iha's friends including Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) on piano, and former Smashing Pumpkins touring drummer Matt Walker.
